SHARING KNOWLEDGE
John's presentation this month covered the three society trophies voted on by the judges.  Those
trophies are the AOS, ODC, and SWROGA trophy and are voted on by only accredited and
probationary judges, and the winner of said trophy must get a 2/3 vote of the ones present.  Student
judges' vote doesn't count but must be turned in for evaluation and grading.

Starting with the AOS trophy John explained how all exhibits, including commercial, are included and
how the point system works.  The general arrangement is what catches the eye first when you look at
an exhibit with color flow, theme and vocal point all in mind.  Quality of Flowers is also an equal strong
point which is self explanatory.  Variety is next of importance and then labeling.

The only exhibit not allowed by ODC to be scored for the trophy is a commercial exhibit.  ODC
encourages the growing of better hybrids and species.  The 3 things that are looked for in an exhibit is
artistry, flower quality and culture excellence.  Rarity is very important for ODC Trophy, and species
is considered rarer than hybrids.
Each best of flower in each variety and the best flower in show are the ones that the SWROGA trophy
is picked from.

A lot of questions and discussion followed his presentation which made for a very interesting topic.
Thanks John for a very informative presentation.
